Just like Owner Builder Network (OBN) has developed a proven process to manage all the schedules and phases of a new home, we provide turnkey engineering to ensure the long-term performance of your foundation and framing. “Most” homeowners are not aware of foundation options and invariably select the most cost effective foundation which is a ground supported waffle slab or more commonly known as a slab-on-grade. This type of foundation system is typical for production builders and most likely to experience movement and/or foundation problems if not designed properly. Our methodology and initial consultation allows the homeowner to understand the value of what we feel will be the best foundation which will last a lifetime for the specific location. Until a soil test is performed and a foundation type has been chosen and designed, these costs will be unknown. A typical slab on grade without piers in favorable soil may cost $6/ft, however, this same foundation type may cost near $10/ft in highly expansive soil. We do not strive to be the cheapest Professional Engineering firm, but we do strive to design sustainable structures that will last a lifetime.
